Human Dignity is looking for a new GA member with fundraising expertise to strengthen its governance and operational development.

About Human Dignity

Human Dignity is a non-profit association working for the respect, protection and realisation of economic, social and cultural rights in sub-Saharan Africa.

Our vision is a world in which everyone lives with dignity, where essential needs—such as water, sanitation, food, health, work, social protection, education, housing, culture, are recognised as rights, and enjoyed - in full - by all.

Our mission is to advocate for and defend the full range of economic, social, cultural, and environmental rights for all - by empowering a broad range of actors in transforming the lives of people and their communities through the fulfilment of human rights.

About the role

We are looking for a new member with expertise in fundraising to join our General Assembly. He/she will join a GA consisting of 6 other members.

Members of the General Assembly are not remunerated.

As a member of the General Assembly, we expect that you will participate in at least three strategic meetings per year to assist the team in relation to its fundraising activities.

What you’ll bring

  • Knowledge of Sub-Saharan Africa, acquired personally or professionally
  • An objective vision on human rights in Sub-Saharan Africa, without any prejudice and preconceptions
  • Readiness to actively participate in shaping your role and the Human Dignity’s governance structure by questioning the existing models and practices
  • Excitement for Human Dignity’s vision, mission and enthusiasm to contribute to its fulfilment
  • A combination of soft and technical skills in fundraising, interpersonal and relationship building, resilience, communication and leadership
  • Shared values and operationalising these in practice

In relation to the fundraising expertise, we are looking for an individual with:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience of successful fundraising with a proven track record, preferably but not limited to the non-profit sector
  • Extensive knowledge of the funding environment for non-profit organisations.
  • Knowledge of the diversity of donors for non-profit organisations in particular trusts and foundations as well as Ministries and institutional donors
  • Knowledge of human rights
  • Experience with human resources and/or organisational development

Please note that Human Dignity works in the CET time zone +/- two hours. Being located inside this time zone span is considered a prerequisite.

Please submit a pdf with your CV and a written response to the three following questions by email with the reference: GA member in the subject line, to info@hdignity.org  by  31 January 2025, 23:59 CET.

Questions:

  • Why do you want to join Human Dignity’s GA?
