The right to health in Côte d'Ivoire: state of play

Abidjan, Paris - 1 August 2017

Human Dignity and the Ivorian Human Rights Movement (MIDH), in collaboration with the Law Clinic of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Paris) publish a research report on the implementation of the right to health by the Ivory Coast.

This research report highlights the progress made and the remaining efforts to be made at the national level to respect, protect and fulfill the right to health.

A press conference was held at 10 am GMT by MIDH in Abidjan to present our findings to journalists, the national human rights institution, the Ministry of health and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

It is hoped that this research and its recommendations will help to inform the authorities on the measures and policies to be taken to progressively realise the
right to health and ensure its effective enjoyment by all.

It was transmitted to the Ivorian authorities prior to its publication and a meeting to present our concerns and recommendations was organised in Abidjan by our partner
MIDH with the Ministry of Health on July 19, 2017. Our organisations also call on Côte d'Ivoire to submit its initial report to the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights as soon as possible, a report due for 23 years.
