NGO joint paper on the role of civil society in the work of UN Committees
Geneva, Paris - 21 June 2016
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, we can observe that civil society participation in the work and sessions of both Committees is an important and integrated part of the procedures of the Committees.
On this occasion, Human Dignity and civil society organisations that engage with either the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) or the Human Rights Committee (HR Committee) submit a paper discussing the critical role of civil society in the work of the Committees and suggestions for furthering this engagement.
The paper can be accessed here.
