Human Dignity has identified the reporting processes of the African Commission and the UN Committee on ESCR (CESCR) as main entry points where the organisation can successfully contribute to a better implementation of the ICESCR and ACHPR.
By following-up on recommendations adopted by the CESCR and the African Commission, Human Dignity is able to monitor the national implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.
Helping to ensure the implementation of recommendations by the Committee and African Commission' on a national level is crucial to Human Dignity, especially since these mechanisms do not have formal follow-up procedures to monitor their recommendations.
To this end, we carry out follow-up missions to countries recently reviewed by the Committee/African Commission to encourage them to promptly implement the recommendations. We meet with national partners, government officials, national human rights institutions and persons directly affected by violations of economic, social and cultural rights.
Together with national partners, we draft follow-up report outlining the progress and further efforts to be made to fully implement economic. social and cultural rights.
